Programmer Baehr (Power 105/KFMG) Off the Dial
July 2007
Long time radio programmer Karl Baehr has hung up the headphones after nearly 30 years in the radio biz. Baehr helped Broadcast Entertainment Corporation (BEC) launch 8 radio stations in the western US since his affiliation began with the group in 1991. BEC was recently acquired by Tall Grass Communications.
“It’s a long chapter that’s closed, but it’s been a great deal of fun working with BEC, it was pure radio,” Baehr said. “We did a lot of good work together, and I look forward to what the future might bring. I would do it all again gladly.”

Baehr began his radio career in 1978 at KTBC FM in Nacogdoches, TX. He went on to work as a news director in Houston (KSKS), and to program radio stations across the western US including Texas (Y99), and New Mexico (Power 105 and legendary rocker KFMG). In the late 80s he designed Radio Tropico Internacional, a satellite radio network for resort areas in Mexico. During the 90s he made headlines as President and CEO of Actual Radio Measurement (ARM), a company that pioneered digital radio ratings in the industry. He continues to consult through his company Knowledge Based Evolution (KBE) which he started in 1984.
